Your guide to the materials used in making the Kanzashi Hair Accessories

1. Fabric

Colored Ribbon Cloth - This kind of ribbon is thicker and gives the petals a firmer structure

Printed Ribbon Cloth - This is the same as the above except that it is printed. Use it with the plain ones to bring contrast and make your creative pieces more attractive.

Satin Ribbon - This is a material all crafters should know. The grade we use are soft yet slightly thicker than the common ones you see in retail. Some flower designs do look nicer with its brighter and glossier look as compared to the other fabrics.

Printed Cotton Cloth - These high quality floral printed cloth comes in rims like the ribbons with the width that is just right for each petal. The floral designs give the entire masterpiece a more oriental feel. This fabric comes in plain solid colors too.

2. Hair Clips and Hair Bands

Alligator Clip - Comes in various lengths. Typically used for smaller and lighter design s.

Barette Clip - Comes in various lengths. Good for use for designs that are slightly heavier and meant to tie up more hair.

Hair Bun Pin - Used to bun up part or al of the hair. Suitable designs used with bun pins are usually round with a diameter of at least 5cm.

Hair Band - We use hair bands that are wrapped in cloth so it is gentle enough for younger children.

About Our Pricing

We understand you might be confused about the pricing as some designs that look rather simple or complicated are not priced the same to those other designs you think are similar. Some petals are double layered thus material used is equivalent to making 2 flowers, so designs like this would be priced close to those that use as much materials.

Replacement of certain items in the DIY Pack

Should any items be out of stock at the time you make the order, we will replace the items in the packages as close to the original as possible. We will not change the overall design, what we would change is only the floral fabrics, small ribbons and bells. We will keep it within the range of the color tone you selected and will never replace with an entirely different color. E.g. your chosen fabric is light pink floral and should we need to replace it, it would be a medium pink floral fabric instead.
